For Mom | London Ontario Family Photographer

They grow up so fast she said...and how well I know that truth. With 3 of my own I cannot believe how quickly time goes. But in the busyness of life, graduations and job's this wise Momma realized the importance of stopping to capture fleeting moments of her loves. I even convinced a reluctant Mom to get in the frame for one! <3

Love them!

London Ontario Photographer | My 365 Week 1 | Dannielle Suzanne

This year I've decided to take a 365 photo challenge. One photo every day for a whole year. Nothing spectacular, just to document our lives. I will try to take as many as I can with my DSLR but I'm sure there will be times my phone camera will suffice. I'm hoping this will be a great year of growth as a photographer and it will help me capture moments that I normally would overlook. I'm excited but nervous of not following through, but I will try my very best and have fun doing it. So far so good, right? :) Here is the first week! Happy Wednesday!

London Ontario Family Photographer | Boy Oh Boy!

Finally getting around to sharing a fun family session from back in the fall. THIS is one of my favourite families ever! These boys are so blessed to have an incredible Momma which I'm happy to call friend. She is extraordinarily selfless, kind and no matter what circumstances she always seems to have a great attitude and always see's the good in others. I had so much fun capturing this family and as you can see they were a lot of fun. In between tackles and wrestling we managed to get some great shots and despite the MANY mosquito bites in many awkward places! :)

Family Photographer London Ontario | G Family

I am longing for long warm summer nights. I will apologize now because once you see this session, you will too! This GORGEOUS family won a session giveaway I had on Facebook back in the spring. Off we went to my favourite location, where the light just takes your breath away. That last hour before sunset is the most perfect time for dreamy images and when you have a beautiful family who just loves being together, its a wicked combination! <3 Enjoy!

London Ontario Photographer | Before and After | Blog Circle

This month, I am taking part in a blog circle of talented photographers and the theme is a before and after edit. I LOVE the transformation of an image from the vision I see even before I take the photo. Most days, I cannot wait to get into photoshop to play. The photo I chose isn't an extraordinary image on its own. But it tells an extraordinary story! A few months ago I shot a surprise engagement. I purposely didn't bring my flash because, it would look odd and suspicious, or so I thought. We were running out of light and one image was so badly underexposed I feared we'd lose it. Thankfully I was able to recover some detail in ACR/Photoshop. I went with the flow of the grain and just embraced it as more of an artistic edit.

Child Photographer London Ontario | Isabelle is One!

Meet sweet little Isabelle! I had the pleasure of finally photographing her after many reschedules. So her one year photos are closer to one and a half year photos. :)

Isabelle has eyes that melt your heart and she is always so full of joy. I was lucky to get the photos I did, because photo-shoots are not her favourite, but thankfully my backyard had a car to play in to make it all worth it! It's not hard to see why I LOVE my job. Thanks for looking!

Engagement Photographer London Ontario | Sam & Gabby

Let me introduce two of my favourite people, Sam and Gabby! I was blessed to capture their SURPRISE engagement!

Sam had planned and prepared for this day for quite some time. Together for over 4 years, this day had been VERY anticipated. When Sam asked me to be a part of capturing their engagement I was so honoured and thrilled to do so.

You see, I've known sweet little Gabby since public school. Since then she has grown into such an incredible women! She has babysat my kids for years, become like a little sister to me and a dear friend. I have loved having a front row seat to God's faithfulness in her and Sam's life. They have gone from high school sweethearts to soon to be husband and wife.

Ok, so get to the good stuff already!! THIS was the proposal of all proposals! Like better than The Bachelorette proposals. True fact, my husband met us afterwards and actually apologized to me for our engagement. :) I spent the evening with Gabby "testing a new location for clients" and she obliged. I dragged her from location to location awaiting to receive THE text from Sam that he was ready.

This is where it gets really, really good! We get to the final location and wander down the path. It's getting dark and Gabby is greeted by one single red rose followed by candles in mason jars, strung up between trees.

I stepped back, kept my distance and Gabby was greeted with hundreds of candles, rose petals, and one handsome young man waiting nervously with 12 long-stem red roses, and a very important question to ask. How did I get to be so lucky to have a front row seat to this love?

Family Photographer London Ontario | B Family

I'm excited to finally share the LOVELY B Family with you! We met for a cooler summer session back in late June, I think. Actually now that the kids are off school, I hardly know the month we're in. :) Anyways...we met near a hiking trail at one of my most favourite locations near London. You see, where you have hiking trails, you have bugs and snails and all sorts of fun things. And what little boy doesn't love bugs and snails! :) Plus I get the opportunity to run and play and have an enormous amount of fun capturing said children looking absolutely adorable! Every once in a while, I would turn around and see Mom and Dad in a sweet embrace that would make my heart smile. Because after all we are all husband's and wife's before we are Mom's and Dad's and that is kind of a big deal! Here are a few of my favourite's from the "B Family" session.

Just Us 12 Times | June

A few months ago I started participating in a blog circle with a few other fabulous photographers. Our goal is to be in the photo at least once every month, rather than always being behind the camera. Back a few weeks ago, we went on a road trip to Chicago with friends. The main reason? So my eight year old hockey fanatic could get to watch his first ever Chicago Blackhawks game (HUGE FAN). Not only was it his first time at a Blackhawks game but he and my hubby went to a semi-final round playoff game. Chicago won in the second overtime, which was an incredible experience for our son.

While there we spent a day doing a little sight-seeing. It was a great little mini family vacay and worth the 6 hour each way drive along with the 3 year old mini meltdowns. :)

I did manage to get one photo with me in it as I passed my camera to my friend.

Family Photographer London Ontario | Golden Hour Session

You've seen this gorgeous Momma before, when I had the privilege of taking maternity photos a few chilly months back. Fast forward a few months on a gorgeous golden hour evening with four beautiful boys (who are up well past their bed-time) and you get a family session to DIE for! It was fun, oh so crazy, but did I say fun? These brothers had a blast, exploring, running, wrestling, and well...just being boys, and just might have exhausted their parents. :) THIS is real life and that is what I love to capture! I never want parents to feel stressed about having the "perfectly behaved" children for their family session. That is because, lets face it, there is no such thing and no children want to get all dressed up and stand still for stuffy family photos. I want to capture YOU and who you are, not just how you look that day. And that my friends, is why I LOVE family photography! :) Here are a few favourites from the session!

London Ontario Family Photographer | 40th Anniversary

As you can tell, family photography is a HUGE passion of mine! And one of the main reasons I started on this photography journey in the first place! I wanted to capture and document my own family's journey. I consider it a HUGE honour to have the privilege of using my skills and art to document other families lives and legacies!

Back in April, on what was supposed to be a warm(ish) spring day we met for an extended family session. This was a gift for Mom and Dad's upcoming 40th anniversary. The problem? I had to wait A.WHOLE.MONTH to share! After a LONG winter, I was super excited to get out for a family session without snow! You sure can't tell by the photos, but it was so chilly. It might as well have been snowing! With four littles including a wee baby, we had to work quickly and they were such troopers. :) I had SO much fun being a part of this wonderful gift. Thank you guys for choosing me to photograph your beautiful family!

Project Ten | Out Of Place

A few weeks ago I went on my son's Grade 3 class trip to Fanshawe Pioneer Village, in London Ontario. I brought my youngest who is three and and I guess you can say he was out of place, although loved by all the kids. :) I certainly felt out of place exploring the village and thankful to have grown up in a time with plumbing, electricity etc., however nowadays our children don't seem to understand how very blessed they are and don't really appreciate the value of hard work. So it seems that there is a trade off for modern advances. I just let my mind wander when taking these photos imagining a more simpler time and captured what I felt like. I even took one with my iPhone (edited with VSCOcam). Thanks for looking! :)

London Ontario Photographer | Just Us 12 Times | May

It was 1979 or 1980 when we met....I think. Ask her because she always remembers everything so much better than me! We were just babes started kindergarden and I had moved to a new town...AGAIN! Starting out with no friends. AJ was the best BFF a girl could ask for, and she still is. She shared the Lord with me and her barbies! :)

Fast forward 34 years or so later, several moves between the two of us. Marriages (one each) and 6 almost 7 children between the two of us. I am so blessed to have her in my life after all these years no matter how much I suck at writing letters :)

Last month we took a family holiday and I was able to spend a much needed evening with my childhood BFF! Love you girl!

Family Photographer London Ontario | Four Boys and a Girl

Meet the P family! We were introduced by a mutual friend years ago and both of our oldest boys have grown up together and have become best friends. As a child I grew up moving around a lot and didn't live in one place long enough to build lasting roots, so it is such a blessing to live in a community where we and our kids can invest in such awesome lifelong friendships. In the almost eight years since we've met, their family has grown to 7. Yep, SEVEN! Four fun and busy boys and one very beautiful princess who will always be protected by her big brothers. You can tell even by the photos, how much fun they have and how much they love to be together. Thank you for choosing me to document your family!

London Ontario Family Photographer | My Babes

This past Easter, I took my babes out for a glorious hike and took some much needed photos to print around our home. If you are a photographer you will know that taking photos of your own children can be down right brutal. I actually dread family sessions with my own because they are too comfortable and silly. That being said, I've started to embrace that fact and just go with it, because after all, I'm capturing them, the very essence of who they are. Plus, I kind of like them and who they are....A LOT! ;)

Family Photographer London Ontario | Just Us 12 Times | April

So...a couple of months ago, I was feeling super guilty! Guilty for ALWAYS being the one behind the camera, and never in front. Total honesty...as a photographer it's part insecurity and part convenience. Who would take the photo of me? And would it look good enough to share? I almost feel like a hypocrite because to be honest, photography is about the imperfections, the flaws, the little things that make 'our every days' worth capturing. I mean, we are all perfectly flawed! Instead of feeling guilty, I've decided that I would commit to being in a frame with my kids or hubby at least once per month. So I thought it would be a great idea to join other photographers who are committing to get in the photo as well, in a blog circle called "Just Us 12 Times."

Last month we made a trip to visit family in Vancouver and spent a day touring the Vancouver Aquarium and the Capilano suspension bridge.

Our New Baby Girl | Lucy |Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Yes, we're crazy! We did NOT need another dog. But c'mon look at her. The kids have been asking, begging for a pup. Our 10 year old schnoodle, has no use for kids and the kids really wanted a pet to play with them. Who am I to deny my children....honestly though, when I heard about her I couldn't stop thinking about her! The kids picked the name Lucy and I think it suits her so much.

Lucy has fallen in LOVE with the kids and follows them around everywhere. So without further adieu, meet Lucy our newest family member. (Let's hope she will not run away when I bring out the camera, like the rest do)

"We envision a world transformed; a world that has been renovated by a globalmovement of compassion and justice evidenced by the eradication of needless suffering." Hungry For Life.

11 years ago my brother started Hungry For Life. HFL is a relief and development organization that is very different from other humanitarian organizations. HFL connects groups and churches looking to serve in third world countries.

"We work alongside a network of international leaders, assessing, planning and monitoring projects that bring lasting change to communities. We assist your group in partnering with these communities and build project plans specific to each of them. The reciprocal relationships formed bring life change on both sides of the world." (HFL)

HFL uses the 100% model. In which, 100% of project funds go directly to the field. Staff raise their own support and operational costs are covered by separate fundraising. In 11 years HFL has grown from 4 staff to over 30 and continues to connect many groups and churches who serve communities in South America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

I am so proud of my brother! Because of his faithfulness to God, thousands of lives have been changed.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 NIV

Last month we visited rainy BC and I was able to update their family photos. Here are a few of my favourite!
